Trainer Tip Tuesday! 🐾🐶It’s Training Tip Tuesday! 🐾 #dogtraining
This week, we’re discussing one aspect of Positive Reinforcement Training.
A common misconception about Positive Reinforcement is that you must always give your dog treats for everything that they do. However, the best way to maintain behaviors is to vary your schedule of reinforcement.
When teaching a new behavior (in the beginning stages) we give the dog a treat every time they perform it. Once the dog is performing the behavior consistently, this changes! 💡 We then reward about half the time with a treat, and then use a treat reward only some of the time (randomly).
Remember, our dogs must be motivated in order to learn! Always give them a variety of rewards- praise, playtime, petting, access to outside, toys, or anything your dog enjoys can all be used in conjunction with food rewards! ... See MoreSee Less

Great job Yogi, and big sister Sydney, for waiting patiently inside so we can minimize distractions 🐾👍🏻 ... See MoreSee Less
